Review
The popular and fun anime TV series "Bakugan Battle Brawlers" has spawned this strategic game that pits a variety of "Bakugan warriors" -- such as "Juggernoids," "Fear rippers," and "Robatallians" -- against each other for points. With this Bakugan Starter Pack, kids 4 and above will enjoy the challenge of earning points by rolling their Bakugan (or shooting them from a launcher) onto magnetic cards where the plastic spheres burst open to reveal the fearsome warrior apparatus inside. Kids will also love the way the Bakugan transform suddenly into warrior mode, and fans of the show will have an especially good time with the game.

The Battle Brawlers (Bakugan, Book 1)

The Battle Brawlers (Bakugan, Book 1)
By Tracey West

Product Description
One day, strange cards began to fall from the sky. All over the world, kids picked them up and created a battle game. The best players were Dan, Marucho, Runo, Shun, Julie and Alice. They called the monsters on the cards "Bakugans" and their team the "Bakugan Battle Brawlers".But these aren't just cards. And it's more than a game. The cards correspond to a world called Vestroia where a fierce battle is raging-a battle that could destroy both Vestroia and the human world. Now it is up to Dan and his friends to save both places. What they thought was just a game has become a race to restore peace throughout the universe!

Bakugan Card Booster Pack

Bakugan, Vol. 2: Game On
From Bakugan

Product Description
And you thought your childhood was tough: Twelve-year-old Dan Kuso continues his fight to save the universe in Volume 2 of the popular anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers: Game On. For the uninitiated, Bakugan are monsters that can be summoned to fight using cards a la Pokemon; after Dan and his pals learn the secrets of the cards, they discover that an inter-dimensional villain named Masquerade also seeks to use them to banish the Bakugan to the Doom Dimension (which is as bad as it sounds). Volume 2 compiles Episodes 6 through 9 from the first season of the English-language version of Bakugan; "A Combination Battle" forces Dan and tomboy Runo to work together in order to defeat a pair of upstart magicians, while "Bakugan Idol" and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" introduce a pop music sister act who challenge Dan while under Masquerade's sway. And in the closer, "Fight or Flight!" Dan calls on Bakugan expert Alice to help him in a battle against two boys whom Masquerade has promised to help. Though pitched at anime's typical hurricane pace, Bakugan does manage to inject a bit of character and plot into the proceedings, most notably in the boys' storyline in "Fight or Flight!" That aspect may make the show a little more tolerable for older viewers, though its target audience--kids under 10--will probably care only for the plentiful battles. As with Volume 1, no DVD extras are included, but each disc comes with an official trading card, which is probably worth more to fans than any supplemental feature. --Paul Gaita

Bakugan, Vol. 1: Battle Brawlers

Bakugan, Vol. 1: Battle Brawlers
From Warner Home Video

Review
Bakugan: Battle Brawlers(2007) is a cartoon adaptation of the popular strategy game created by Sega Toys and Spin Master. Dan Kuso and his five on-line friends started playing Bakugan when game cards inexplicably fell from the sky. Using combinations of cards and special marbles that turn into monsters, they fight duels and win points. Dan loudly proclaims he's going to become the all-time champion. He and his friends learn that Bakugan monsters have lives in the dimension of Vestroia. But the mysterious gamer Masquerade is destroying the monsters he defeats by sending them to the Doom Dimension. Battle Brawlers plays like a cross between Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon. With his spikey hair, fingerless gloves and goggles, Dan looks like numerous other shonen (boys) anime heros; he's nicer than Yugi, but he lacks Ash's good heart. Battle Brawlers will appeal primarily to fans of the original game. (Unrated, suitable for ages: 8 and older: cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon
